Adolescent Girls' Group:  Is Your Daughter Having Trouble Coping?

Teens today face many struggles.  Bullying, low self-esteem, drugs, alcohol, sex and dating issues are just a few of the problems our teens face.  Teenage girls are particularly prone to episodes of depression and anxiety.  This group therapy program will focus on developing positive coping strategies, a healthier self-image and healthier relationships.

Weekly session topics include:

Mood dysfunction: prevention, recognition and responding to these problems

Anxiety coping strategies

Developing a positive self image and healthy self esteem

Relational aggression and bullying

Impact of media on girls' issues

Drugs, alcohol and peer pressure

Healthy dating relationships

Cyber issues:  cyber bullying and internet safety


Who Can Participate in the Group?  Any adolescent girls between 13 and 17 years of age that has struggled with depression or anxiety can participate.  Those with conduct related issues, active drug and alcohol abuse issues, significant cognitive deficits or active psychosis are not appropriate for this group. 

The group consists of 8 weekly sessions that are 1.5 hours in length.  The groups are conducted by Dr. Elizabeth Montagnese and are held Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm-9:00pm  Please call 717-867-8335 ext 3505 to enroll in upcoming sessions.

Cost of Sessions:  Adolescent Girls' Group package is all-inclusive.  Cost of the entire 8 week program is $500.00.  Missed sessions cannot be rescheduled or reimbursed.  Documentation is provided for submission to insurance companies.  Please check with your health insurance provider for individual coverage.  Payment in full is required at the first session.
